Beyond Round - The Lost Wood Process with Art Liestman
  • Thursday May 12th
  • Zoom call opens a 6:15 for socializing
  • Meeting begins at 6:45 PM
  • Demonstration begins at 7 PM
Do you have a bunch of slab shaped cut offs kicking around your shop that are too good to throw away? Are you looking for a project where you could actually use them instead of collecting them?

Join Art Liestman to see how he uses these lost pieces of wood to create beautiful turnings that captivate the eye and the imagination. Art will walk us through how he selects the wood, joins it, turns it, delaminates it and reassembles the pieces to create one of a kind oval box.

More details can be found in the American Woodturner article "Beyond Round: The Lost Wood Process" (August 2012) by

The demonstration will explore:

  ●wood selection

  ●joinery

  ●grain alignment

  ●box turning

●disassembly and reassembly of the layers

  ●finishing techniques

We hope you will join us Thursday evening May 12th for this informative demonstration of this unique technique.
