Looking for a creative way to use those smaller pieces of wood from your shop? WGNC's October workshop will feature Holland Van Gores who will lead the workshop carrying forward the Thursday demo on hollowing a limb to create various vessels and then embellishing them with light power carving tools and finishing with milk paints.
Holland will lead attendees on turning a small, 5-inch section of a branch into a hollow form using a piece with a pith to aquaint members on working with this common type of wood.
The workshop will cover the entire process, including how to hollow out the form from the bottom and create a perfect plug to fill the access hole.
After the turning is complete, attendees will turn to exploring different texturing techniques and finish up with a lesson on mixing and applying milk paint to give your work beautiful and unique finishes.
This will be a fun workshop, so get ready to transform those small branches and limb scraps into stunning works of art!
